History
Today's U19 Champions Trophy has become known originally as the "Easter Tournament" of BV 04 Dusseldorf.
In the early years the tournament served primarily for international understanding, however, now it has grown into a highly professional competition with international and national top clubs.
The tournament as "Nokia Debitel Cup" was lifted to a new level a few years ago. From then on, the top clubs from home and abroad with their exceptional talents each year were an integral part of the great Easter Tournament.
Meanwhile, the event had established the extent that the organizers in the selection of participants field were spoiled for choice. Restrictively were henceforth the criteria of the invitation Prozederes. With few exceptions, only the associations were invited to their licensing teams had qualified in the current season for the Europa League or Champions League.
It's no suprise, that the U19 Champions Trophy attracts thousands of spectators to the stadium at the Roßstraße year after year. Finally there is to admire the creme de là creme of the international youth football.
The traditionally well-staffed tournament promises to each viewer, since more than five decades a good look on the stars of the future.
For years, therefore, not only football enthusiastic spectators visit the site of the BV 04, but also talent scouts from several top European clubs.
They got even players like Toni Kroos, Holger Badstuber, Mats Hummels, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Müller, Mario Götze, Sami Khedira or Michael Owen, Wesley Sneider, Stephen Gerrard and World Footballer Kaka to see that all belonged to the International sizes of football later or still belong.
The teams like FC Barcelona, Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC, Juventus or the royal offspring of Real Madrid have already put their great youth work in the U19 Champions Trophy to the test. But the national top teams like Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich or Fortuna Dusseldorf, year after year exceptional talent out there and give off a taste of their excellent footballing education - not for nothing was the U19 Champions Trophy winner in 2012 Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Therefore, we can be again in the future tense of the top stars of tomorrow!
Under the direction of Martin Meyer, who is assisted by Marcus Giesenfeld, one may hope for a great tournament again. Volunteer for many years both committed to the U19 Champions Trophy and now ensure the continued existence of the tournament.
